Grounded Transformation is a public lecture series within IXDM Continuing Education and the CoCreate program at HGK Basel, facilitated by Prof. Ann Mbuti from BA Process Design at HyperWerk.

The series explores design as a collaborative, situated practice for change — bringing together collective design processes, storytelling and worldbuilding, institutional transformation, ecological responsibility, and critical approaches to digital infrastructures.

Contributions connect perspectives from BA Process Design at HyperWerk, MA Transversal Design, research and the Critical Media Lab, inviting students and continuing education participants into shared learning spaces across social, ecological, and political contexts.

CML contributes to the session “Institutions and their Infrastructures: Moving away from Big Tech”, focusing on how software and platforms shape artistic and collaborative work — and which tools can help us emancipate from Big Tech.

A special highlight is the closing lecture “Transforming Systems Together: Feral Hacking as Polycrisis Alchemy”, where Prof. Dr. Kit Braybrooke, head of MA Transversal Design, delivers their inaugural lecture, followed by a cosy public reception.

All lectures take place on site at HGK Basel and are recorded, with access provided to continuing education participants shortly after each session.
