The Assembly is a yearly gathering of members of the Make/Sense PhD programme, consisting of intensive exchanges, workshops and communal activities among the group, as well as public events.

This year’s Assembly continues engagements with practice-based forms of reading and writing, initiated at last year’s Assembly. Participants will bring texts that in their mode, method or form of writing resonate with their own ways of engaging with their research practices.

These texts will be mobilised as part of an Arpentage session, a collective reading and annotating practice hosted by Make/Sense members Guillemette Legrand and Cristina Cochoir, to spark conversations and possible coalitions among participants. Work with the texts and different modes, voices and ethics of writing is deepened in a full-day writing workshop on day two, facilitated by Anna Bromley and hosted by Ines Kleesattel.

The second day concludes with the public inaugural lecture “Towards a Bibliography of Critical Publishing” by Lucie Kolb, Professor of Critical Publishing and head of the Make/Sense PhD programme. The lecture is accompanied by a spring rehearsal by Laura Pregger and Gabriela Aquije Zegarra.

Make/Sense member Gabriela Aquije Zegarra will also host the walk Pampachay: preparing our soil on day three. The Assembly is concluded with the public screening Program – 23 at distro Basel.
