The Rewrite

The Rewrite project aspires to activate the power to challenge a text’s authority through forms of collective study, collaboration, and consensus building. It was born out of a frustration with current climate politics and the desire to reimagine approaches to climate politics and governance. Throughout the last year, we have been working towards developing a digital annotation tool that enables us to uncover and unlearn hidden imaginaries of texts and provides agency to change, modify, and shift them.

This semi-public workshop will briefly introduce the process and seek to rehearse rewriting as an approach collectively. As preparation, please think of a text you’ve encountered that you felt needed rewriting in its ethics, politics, or accessibility and bring this text with you.
