As a wave of anti-boycott legislation has swept through the US, so has a counter-wave in defense of freedom of speech. Everyday Americans, told they must choose between their jobs and their political beliefs, launch legal battles challenging these laws. Their stories cut to the heart of a pressing national issue, and illustrate how the right to free speech could be redefined across US society and beyond for generations to come.
